MORE ABOUT
CASA CALLEJA

Casa Calleja is an incredible place, built on a rocky ledge at the side of the magnificent Cueva de las Calaveras. The inspiration and drive to create this amazing building echoes Calleja’s character and lust for life.

Built in the modernist style in the 70’s with influences from the natural caves – open plan living areas, natural rock walls and arches – to the music scene, the main house being built in the shape of a guitar.

His detached Studio which is split level is a wonderfully tranquil and peaceful space.

Evidence of his creative humour can be seen on the plasterwork!

Our personal preference with bed and breakfast is privacy and exclusivity and so here at Casa Calleja we have created a private environment where you will have exclusive use of all facilities at all times, secure in the knowledge that your hosts are on hand when required.

Casa Calleja sits on the outskirts of the pretty and un-commercialised village of Benidoleig with it’s classic C19th church from where there are lovely views across the fertile Orba Valley to the blue Mediterranean and the encompassing mountains.

Situated halfway between Valencia and Alicante, this is a perfect location for exploring Spain’s “White Coast”. Even with around 320 days of sunshine a year the area is surprisingly verdant, attracting many species of migratory birds. The swifts in particular seem to have made an impression on Calleja as they have been incorporated into his murals here.
